When you're writing a story, it's a good idea to put things like characters, actions, and ideas into 3's. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but it's a good idea.
Why? Humans like things in 3's, and so jokes are funnier, readers connect more to the story you're trying to tell, and it gives the story a natural flow that most people will connect to when they're reading.
How can you put the Rule of 3's in your story?
3 Characters (3 people in your story) For example, Vianne encounters 3 magical creatures in There's A Monster Behind The Couch.
3 Actions (3 things your star or characters do) For example, Grandma Poss makes 3 kinds of magic. 1. She changes the colour of animals. 2. She changes something about how the animal normally looks (smiling dingos, small emus, etc). 3. She makes Hush invisible.
A List of 3's For example, Robert Munch lists 3 things about Elizabeth that make her a princess. 1. She lives in a beautiful castle. 2. She has beautiful clothes. 3. She's going to marry a prince named Ronald.
